Hemlock



Hemlock, any of a genus (Tsuga) of evergreen trees belonging to the pine family. Found in the forests of North America and Asia, hemlock is used both ornamentally and for its lumber, bark, and pulp. Varieties of hemlock include Eastern hemlock (T. canadensis), Carolina hemlock (T. caroliniana), and Western hemlock (T. heterophylla). Poison hemlock is an herb unrelated to the pine family.
