Heisman Trophy



Heisman Trophy (John W. Heisman Memorial Trophy), annual award since 1935 given to the best college football player. It is most often bestowed on a running back. The award is named after John W. Heisman, a football coach (1892–1927) who modernized the strategy and rules of football.
