Hebrides



Hebrides, group of about 500 islands off the northwest coast of Scotland, fewer than 100 of them inhabited. The Outer Hebrides (Western Islands) include Harris, Lewis, North and South Uist, Benbecula, and Barra; Skye, Mull, and Iona lie among the Inner Hebrides. Apart from tourism, industries include fishing, farming, sheepraising, distilling, and tweed-making.
