Robert James Lee Hawke



Hawke, Robert James Lee (1929– ), prime minister of Australia 1983–90. He was the leader of the landslide election victory for the Australian Labor Party in March 1983. He was elected to three successive terms in office and was instrumental in the effort to refocus the economy from the export of raw material to the export of manufactured items. In 1992 he ended his political career.
