Gary Warren Hart



Hart, Gary Warren (1936– ), U.S. politician. A lawyer for the U.S. Department of Justice (1964) and special assistant to the U.S. secretary of the interior (1966), he served as U.S. Senator from Colorado (1974–88). Hart gained nationwide attention in his 1984 campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination and also pursued the 1988 nomination, but withdrew from the campaign after newspaper accounts of his personal life suggested marital infidelity.
