Harsha



Harsha, or Harshavardhana (A.D. 590?–47), king of northern India (606–47), patron of the arts, and writer. Harsha added conquered territory to the kingdoms he inherited, establishing a unified monarchy after the anarchy that had followed the Hun invasions of the 5th and 6th centuries. His writings included poetry and 3 well-known Sanskrit plays, Nagananda, Ratnavali, and Priyadarsika.
