Benjamin Harrison



Harrison, Benjamin (1726–91), American Revolutionary leader. He was a Virginia delegate to the Continental Congress (1774–78) and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. He also served as governor of Virginia (1781–84) and member of the Virginia legislature (1749–75, 1784–91). Both his son and his great-grandson, William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison, became U.S. presidents.
