Hafiz

Hafiz (Shams ad-din Mohammed; c.1325–c.90 B.C.), Persian lyric poet and courtier at Shiraz, considered one of the greatest medieval Islamic poets. He used the traditional verse form ghazal (rhyming couplets), using it to express a sensuality and gaiety sharpened by the philosophical mysticism of sufism.
