Hadrian's Wall



Hadrian's Wall, ancient Roman fortification built by the emperor Hadrian (c.122–126) and lengthened about a hundred years later by the emperor Severus. It ran 74 mi (119 km) across the northern part of England and had a series of forts along its length. It represented the northern limit of the empire.
