Button Gwinnett



Gwinnett, Button (1735?–77), representative to the Georgia Assembly (1769) and to the Continental Congress (1776–77); signer of the Declaration of Independence. A merchant and plantation owner, he was killed in a duel with Continental general Lachlan McIntosh.
