Ground sloth

Ground sloth (genus Megatherium), prehistoric member of the sloth family, about the size of an elephant. They originated in South America and migrated to North America during the Ice Age. Ground sloths were herbivores (plant eaters). They probably used their powerful hind legs and tails to stand and feed on high branches and leaves.
