Grinding and polishing

Grinding and polishing, finishing of metal and other surfaces by the use of abrasive materials. In grinding, hard abrasives are used to wear down the metal surface appreciably. In polishing, much softer abrasives are used to smooth the surface, removing a negligible amount of metal.
