Wayne Gretzky



Gretzky, Wayne (1961– ), Canadian-born National Hockey League (NHL) center. The first professional hockey player to score 2,000 regular season points in a career, he holds or shares nearly 50 records, including most goals (92) in a season (1981). He has led the NHL in scoring 9 times (1980–87, 88), won 9 Most Valuable Player awards (1980–87, 89), and while playing for the Edmonton Oilers led the team to 4 Stanley Cup championships (1984, 85, 87, 88). In 1988 he was traded to the Los Angeles Kings.
