Grenade



Grenade, small explosive device used in warfare. It is activated by pulling a pin and throwing it toward a specific target. When grenades explode, they send deadly metal fragments flying or release lethal gas. Some grenades are used to illuminate darkened areas. Developed in the 1400s, they became standard infantry weapons in the 20th century.
