Great Pyrenees



Great Pyrenees, breed of sheepdog originating in the Pyrenees Mountains. The dog, 27 to 32 in (69 to 81 cm) in height and weighing 90 to 125 lb (41 to 57 kg), is strong and muscular with a bearlike head. Its thick coat is white, sometimes with tan or gray markings. Obedient, hardworking, and easily trained, the Great Pyrenees is used as a guard dog, guide dog, and rescuer of avalanche victims.
