Great Barrier Reef



Great Barrier Reef, series of massive coral reefs off the northeast coast of Australia, extending for about 1,250 mi (2,000 km). The reef, which is the world's largest coral formation, can be safely crossed only at certain passages, the chief of which is Rains Inlet.
