Gran Chaco



Gran Chaco, lowland plain in Paraguay, Argentina, and Bolivia. Occupying c.250,000 sq mi (647,500 sq km), this extremely hot, sparsely populated region is prone to droughts and flooding. Among its resources are oil and quebracho (a source of tannin).
