Steffi Graf



Graf, Steffi (1969– ), German tennis player, known for her powerful forehand. Ranked number one in the world (1987–90), in 1988 Graf won the grand slam (consisting of the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon, and the United States Open) and Olympic gold medal in women's singles. In 1989 Graf captured 3 out of the 4 grand slam events, losing only in the finals of the French Open. In 1990 she won the Australian Open, in 1991 and 1992 Wimbledon, in 1993 Roland Garros, the US Open, Wimbledon, and the Masters, in 1994 the Australian Open, in 1995 the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open, and in 1996 Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
