Pancho Gonzales



Gonzales, Pancho (Richard Alonzo Gonzales; 1928– ), U.S. tennis player. He began to play tennis at the age of 12, becoming the top-ranking amateur in the United States by 1948. He won 2 U.S. amateur singles titles and helped the U.S. team defeat Australia in the 1949 competition. He became a professional player in 1949.
