Gish sisters



Gish sisters, U.S. actresses best known for silent films, especially in the pioneering epics of D. W. Griffith. In The Birth of a Nation (1915), Lillian Diana (1896–93) won world fame; with Dorothy (1898–1968), she starred in Orphans of the Storm (1921). Lillian later appeared in plays, including All the Way Home (1960) and Uncle Vanya (1973).
