Anna Freud



Freud, Anna (1895–1982), Austrian-born British pioneer of child psychoanalysis. Her book The Ego and Mechanisms of Defense (1936) is a major contribution to the field. After escaping with her father, Sigmund Freud, from Nazi-occupied Austria (1938), she established an influential child therapy clinic in London.
