Frequency band

Frequency band, or waveband, radio frequency range assigned to a broadcasting station by the Federal Communications Commission. TV and AM and FM radio stations, as well as those for commercial or government (e.g., police, amateur, and airplane radio), are given specific numerical frequency ranges in kilohertz (1,000 cycles per second) to prevent stations from interfering in each other's broadcasts.
