Frederik



Frederik, or Frederick, name of Danish kings, including 2 of the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. Frederik VIII (1843–1912) was born in Copenhagen and ruled from the time of his father's death in 1906 until his own death. His sister was Queen Alexandra of England and his brother was King George I of Greece. Frederik IX (1899–1972) was married to Princess Ingrid of Sweden, spent 35 years as a crown prince, then ruled as king of Denmark from 1947 until his death.
