Felix Frankfurter

Frankfurter, Felix (1882–1965), U.S. Supreme Court justice (1939–62), legal adviser to presidents Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt. He advocated the doctrine of judicial restraint, minimizing the judiciary's role in the process of government; he was equally opposed to attempts to obstruct “progressive” legislation and to attempts to further it by undue interpretation.
