Jean-Honoré Fragonard



Fragonard, Jean-Honoré (1732–1806), French painter. An artist who worked in the rococo style, he was a noted portraitist. His work is characterized by a lightness of touch and a use of radiant color. Among his masterpieces are The Swing (1766) and Fête at St Cloud (1775), which convey the atmosphere of erotic playfulness and gaiety cultivated at the court of Louis XV.
