James Emory Foxx



Foxx, James Emory (1907–67), U.S. baseball player. In a 21-season career with the Philadelphia Athletics (1925–35), the Boston Red Sox (1936–42), the Chicago Cubs (1942–44), and the Philadelphia Phillies (1945), Jimmy Foxx hit 534 home runs. His usual position was first base. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1951.
