Fox

Fox, any of various small, bushy-tailed members of the dog family. Foxes feed mainly on small mammals and live alone or in pairs. The common red fox (Vulpus fulva) of the Northern Hemisphere is the quarry of British fox hunts; American foxes include the gray fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) and the desert kit fox (Vulpus velox). The Arctic fox (Alopex lagopus) lives in northern tundras and has a white winter coat. The insect-eating, bat-eared fox (Otocyon megalotis) is native to Africa.
