Falange Española

Falange Española, recognized as the only legal political party in Spain under dictator Francisco Franco. Founded by José Antonio Primo de Rivera in 1933, the fascist Falange joined the Nationalist forces of Franco during the Spanish Civil War (1936–39). Franco assumed control of the party in 1937, and in 1945 the Falange became known as the National Movement. It was outlawed by the democratic government of Spain in 1977, after Franco's death, but is still active.
