Book of Ezra



Ezra, Book of, book of the Old Testament of the Bible, named for the 5th-century B.C. Babylonian Jewish priest and religious leader. Ezra advocated an exclusive and legalistic doctrine prohibiting marriages between Jews and gentiles. In Jewish editions of the Bible, the books of Ezra and Nehemiah are combined in Writings.
