Eurydice



Eurydice, in Greek mythology, nymph who married the musician Orpheus but died on her wedding day. Orpheus descended to the underworld in search of her. Hades and Persephone, rulers of the underworld, agreed to release Eurydice to follow Orpheus if he promised not to look back at her. But he was unable to resist, and Eurydice was taken back to the underworld forever.
