Esperanto



Esperanto, artificial language designed by Dr. Ludwig Lazarus Zamenhof (1859–1917) of Warsaw, Poland, and first proposed to the public in 1887. Based upon the main European languages, Esperanto is simple and easily learned. Pronunciation is phonetic, and its rules of grammar have no exceptions. Esperanto is one of various artificial languages meant to facilitate international communication. It is the most widely used.
