Eelgrass

Eelgrass (Zostera marina), grasslike plant of brackish estuaries and lagoons. It bears 3-ft (1-cm) narrow leaves that float in the water. In very salty water eelgrass reproduces by budding, but in fairly fresh water it produces flowers. Eelgrass is an important food for geese, manatees, and marine turtles.
