Max Forrester Eastman



Eastman, Max Forrester (1883–1969), U.S. poet and influential critic. His Enjoyment of Poetry (1913) proved a popular introduction to the subject. A Marxist, Eastman edited the left-wing journals The Masses (1911) and The Liberator (1918), but later rejected communism. His collected verse appeared in Poems of Five Decades (1954).
