Dushanbe



Dushanbe (pop. 602,000), capital and largest city of Tajikistan in central Asia. Established in 1926 when 3 small villages merged, Dushanbe is an important transport junction and accounts for a third of the Tajik Republic's industrial output, which includes textiles, automatic looms, electric cable, and refrigerators.
