Theodore Dreiser



Dreiser, Theodore (1871–1945), U.S. novelist whose naturalistic fiction is concerned with the dispossessed and criminal. He wrote about the impersonal social and economic forces that compel behavior, and generally with grimmer realities of U.S. life. His novels include Sister Carrie (1900) and An American Tragedy (1925).
