Gerard Dou

Dou, Gerard (1613–75), Dutch painter. A pupil of Rembrandt (1628–31), Dou developed the tradition of small, minutely finished pictures with enamel-like surfaces, painting portraits, still lifes, landscapes, and scenes from everyday life.
