Dollar diplomacy



Dollar diplomacy, U.S. foreign policy that attempts to protect the nation's political and financial interests through diplomacy. First in use during the presidency of William Howard Taft (1909–13) in such areas as the Caribbean, it has since been practiced by many U.S. administrations.
