Dior, Christian (1905–57), French fashion designer. Dior helped reestablish Paris as the leader in fashion after World War II. His salon, opened in 1946, branched out into subsidiary companies to manufacture perfume and clothing accessories. Known worldwide, Dior was the undisputed leader of fashion until his death.
