Deuteronomy

Deuteronomy, fifth book of the Old Testament and last book of the Pentateuch. Supposedly a testament left by Moses to the Israelites about to enter Canaan, it is primarily a recapitulation of moral laws and laws relating to the settlement of Canaan. Much of it was written long after Moses, parts being added during the reforms under King Josiah (621 B.C.). It may have been the “Book of the Law” discovered by Hilkiah in the Temple in Jerusalem at that time.
