Agnes George De Mille



De Mille, Agnes George (1909–93), U.S. dancer and choreographer; niece of Cecil B. De Mille. She pioneered the combination of ballet and folk music. Her ballets include Rodeo (1942) and Fall River Legend (1948). Her choreography for the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Oklahoma! (1943) revolutionized dance in musical comedy by using ballet as an integral part of the plot.
