Delaware



Delaware, Native American tribe of the Algonquian linguistic group that lived in the Delaware River basin area until driven into Ohio in the 18th century by the incursions of colonists and the violence of the French and Indian Wars. An agricultural tribe, the Delaware had a sophisticated culture. Today their descendants are scattered through reservations in Oklahoma and Ontario, Canada.
