Deep, ocean area with a depth in excess of 18,000 ft (5,490 m). More than 100 deeps have been identified in ocean floors. Mariana Trench, located 200 mi (320 km) southwest of Guam, is the deepest ocean deep with an ocean floor at 36,498 ft (11,033 m) below the surface. The Milwaukee Deep, north of Puerto Rico, has the greatest depth in the Atlantic Ocean at 28,374 ft. (8,648 m).
