Amphibole



Amphibole, any of a group of silicate minerals with similar chemical compositions and characteristic optical properties. Amphiboles are usually found in lava or very old rock strata. They form long slender crystals, which in asbestos become fine fibers. Hornblende is the most common amphibole.
