American Association of Retired Persons

American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), private, nonprofit organization for people aged 50 and older. AARP's purpose is to improve the quality of life for the elderly through educational programs and other special services, including travel benefits, health insurance, a credit union, and pharmaceutical information. AARP, with headquarters in Washington, D.C., was founded in 1958.
