Svetlana Alliluyeva



Alliluyeva, Svetlana (1926–), daughter of Joseph Stalin and his second wife Alliluyeva. She defected from the USSR to the United States in 1966. Her Twenty Letters to a Friend (1967) described her life in Moscow and the reasons for her departure. Only One Year (1969) tells of her life after her defection. In 1984 she returned to the USSR.
