All-American Canal



All-American Canal, waterway, completed 1940, that brings water 80 mi (130 km) from the Imperial Reservoir on the Colorado River to irrigate 500,000 acres (200,000 hectares) of the Imperial Valley, Calif. The canal also supplies water to San Diego. A branch delivering an equal amount of water to the Coachella Valley was opened in 1958.
