John Alden



Alden, John (1599–1687), one of the leaders of Plymouth Colony. He is best known through Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's fictional poem The Courtship of Miles Standish (1858), in which Alden courts Priscilla Mullens on behalf of Standish but marries her himself.
