Alaska Highway



Alaska Highway, road extending 1,422 mi (2,288 km) from Delta Junction, Alaska, to Dawson Creek, British Columbia. It was built by the United States as a strategic all-weather military route in 1942. In 1946 Canada took control of the 1,221 mi (1,965 km) passing through its territory.
