Alabama



Alabama, Confederate warship built in England (1862) for use in the U.S. Civil War. Under the command of Capt. Raphael Semmes, the Alabama attacked, captured, or destroyed over 60 Union commerce ships, before being sunk near Cherbourg, France (June 19, 1864) by the U.S.S. Kearsarge, commanded by Capt. John Winslow.
