Cy Young



Young, Cy (Denton True Young; 1867–1955), U.S. baseball player. Considered one of the greatest pitchers of all time, he holds the record for career wins (511) and innings pitched (7,356), he pitched no-hit games (1897 and 1908) and pitched one perfect game (May 5, 1904). Young played for the Cleveland Spiders (1890–98), St. Louis Nationals (1898–1900), Boston Red Sox (1901–08), Cleveland Indians (1909–1l),and Boston Braves (1911) and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937. The Cy Young Award is given each year to the leading pitcher of each league.
